Master Darryl D. Khalid 7th Dan began his martial arts training in Korea after meeting Master Frank Waller. They were stationed at Osan Air Force Base in 1970 and were under the instruction of Master Chun Sik Kim. Also, Master Khalid studied with Master H.C. Hwang the son of Grandmaster Hwang Kee the founder of modern day Tang Soo Do. Also, During his studies with several other senior masters, he was influenced not only in martial arts abilities but also in the healing arts.

In 1987, Grandmaster Shin, President of the World Tang Soo Do Association, bestowed on Master Khalid the highest honor in the organization, “Master of the Year”. In 1988 Master Khalid traveled with Grandmaster Shin to China where they placed the first non-Chinese monument at the Shaolin Temple.

In 1990, he became the chairperson for the self defense committee for the World Tang Soo Do Association which had over 100,000 members. He developed armed and unarmed self-defense techniques for instructor training in the World Tang Soo Do Association.

He traveled all over the United States and Mexico as a senior Master and Ambassador. He was sent to Magadan, Russia on a diplomatic tour where he introduced Tang Soo Do to the local police and schools from kindergarten to 12th grade.

Master Khalid was the Defense Tactical Coordinator for Grendale Community College Police Reserve Academy. They serve the west side of Maricopa County in the state of Arizona.

Master Khalid has been responsible for developing local, national and international martial arts Masters.

In 1997 Master Khalid formed Universal Tang Soo Do Alliance for the enhancement of Tang Soo Do and its traditional principals.
